Thuso Mbedu nominated for an EMMY
24 year old actress, Thuso Mbedu, has been nominated for the 2017 International Emmy Awards for her role in Mzansi Magic drama series, Is'thunzi.
Mbedu is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress along side Anna Friel from the UK, Adriana Esteves from Brazil, and Germany's Sonja Gerhardt.
She is nominated for playing "Winnie" on the show —a big hearted go-getter and sassy who dreams of marrying a rich and famous guy whilst living with her strict aunt in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal.
If you follow me on Twitter you know how much I love the show and how highly I think of all four lead actresses' performances and talent.
This awards is the same that South African actress Brenda Ngxoli was nominated for in 2007 and Lerato Mvelase in 2011 for Home Affairs.
This year Mbedu becomes the only African nominated across the board for the International Emmys — I mean, production, movies, series, etc, she is the only one.
She definitely deserves this nod and I am holding fingers for her to be the first South African to win the Emmy for acting.
International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will announce the winners of the 45th International Emmy®Awards at a Black-Tie Gala event on November 20th 2017
